Helen Arthur - Archivist

Helen was Allied Distiller’s archivist for several years researching and cataloguing key brands including Teacher’s, Ballantine’s and Laphroaig. This led to the discovery of some superb material including a telegram from Niagara Falls to Laphroaig distillery stating that ‘the medicine had arrived’ during Prohibition in the USA. The wealth of material she discovered about the life of William Teacher and his successors led to the company commissioning A Teacher’s Tale.

Since Allied Distillers was sold she works for both Chivas Regal, Pernod Ricard and Jim Beam Brands. For Chivas Regal she has created an archive for Beefeater gin at the distillery as part of the re-development of this historic site. The company has a unique record of the Brand including hundreds of original letters written by the founder James Burrough from the USA in the 1850s.
